So my friend convinced me to start watching full metal alchemist. It’s not bad
Just FMA or Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? FMAB is the better one.

From what I hear FMA03 does really well with early character/story exposition for the first few episodes, while FMA:B kind of devotes a lot less time to that early exposition since they already adapted it, focusing a lot more on the mid and end story arcs.
Not to say you get an incomplete story with either, but they did what they could within time constraints to condense the manga to animation format. You can understand the story easily with either series.
FMAB follows the manga much more closely, though, while FMA03 kind of does it’s own thing and has a completely different ending.
