What I don’t understand is, where are the Christians with talent?

Peter Jackson spent all of his free time from high school on working on his first movie, which he directed, acted in, and created special effects for. Why isn’t there a Christian doing that?

Robin Williams spent a lot of his childhood making his own radio programs with a cassette recorder his parents gave him, which was how he honed his ability to perform lots of different characters and improvise situations. Why isn’t there a Christian doing that?

Paul McCartney and John Lennon spent their teen years teaching themselves music by ear, travelling all over Liverpool to learn new guitar chords, putting together a band with their friends, even touring England and Germany. Why aren’t any Christians doing that?

Why are we either born without talent or else choose to not use it to glorify Him and just let it atrophy?

You haven’t heard of Christian rock have you? Lol.

“Where are the christians with talent?” OP asks, giving an example of how J.R.R.Tolkien’s work inspired others, completely ignoring that Tolkien was a devout christian and the whole LOTR series can be distilled to “God vs turbo-Satan”.

This was more about why Christians in current times don’t put their all into becoming masters of their craft, I just listed people off the top of my head that I knew had worked to better themselves on their own time from a young age to show that it’s possible to do so. And obviously I know that Tolkein was a Christian, but Peter Jackson’s first movie wasn’t Lord of the Rings, it was an alien invasion horror comedy called Bad Taste, so I didn’t feel it was relevant to go into that with this.

What I was more aiming for with this post is that Christians should want to use their talent to honor God to the best of their ability, and you don’t see people doing that hardly at all. The majority of Christian films are shot with the utmost laziness and acted by people who can barely project any emotion beyond boredom, and the majority of Christian music is so banal and phoned in that it’s almost insulting to dedicate it to God in my opinion.

I’ve gotten replies to this post suggesting places to look into more Christian entertainers, so I will be reading through those, but it’s still pretty evident that for the most part Christian entertainment is lazy at best and insulting at worst because they know that they have a built in audience of people trying to get away from worldly entertainment.

We can’t bank on artists of past generations, we need new artists and future saints of TODAY to make new stuff. It’s embarrassing.
