Absolutely not. First off, that oft-cited number is based off the study that actually said 2-10% of rape cases were proven to be false. Now there are three big issues with that:
A range of 2-10% is a whole hell of a lot more than just 2%
Even if those numbers are accurate that’s still thousands of cases which makes it worth considering. LGBT individuals make up only a small percentage of the US population. Does that mean they don’t matter?
Most importantly, that’s only the cases that were proven false. It’s a complete fallacy to assume that means that all the other ones are true. In reality when it comes to rape it is often very difficult to definitively purse out the details in most cases, so what we have is a handful cases that are definitely proven true, a handful of cases that are definitely proven false, and a vast majority of cases that cannot be definitively proven one way or another.
