Hi, so I have been disappointed with the Catholic Church lately, so I decided to pray and ask God to guidance as to what I should do. And He is pointing me at a direction most people here on Tumblr would call heretic, but I know deep in my bones that this is what He wants for me! And I feel really welcome and close to God at this new religious place, I also have been reading lots of inspiring books that have been opening my mind to God’s amazing power! What should I do?

Keep praying for sure. But you really need to ask yourself why you’re in any church at all–are you there for the people or are you there for Jesus? Are you there bc the pastors make you feel good and are good speakers or are you there bc Jesus is there?

EVERY church is made up of sinners and people who will disappoint, and if the reason you’re leaving the Catholic Church is bc you’re disappointed in PEOPLE, you’re going to continue to be disappointed wherever you go.

Go where Jesus is. He’s the only One you can 100% depend on not to disappoint you. One thing I know for sure, no matter what scandals the Catholic Church goes through or how many bad homilies I have to sit through or how many judgemental people are in the pews, I know without a doubt that Jesus is at every single Mass, physically, calling me to receive Him and commune with Him and leave my sins at the altar. I know He’s there every time, I know these are the sacraments He founded, and there’s not a single scandal or bad pope or bishop or lukewarm community that could ever make me doubt any of that. I’m not here for people. I’m here for Jesus. I’m here for the Eucharist. And that never disappoints.

I just realized all the kids growing up with Spotify don’t have to spend money on specific music anymore, so they probably won’t have the memory of saving up money to buy their first CD and having it be something super cringy…like I think I saved up $15 for three weeks to buy the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack at Barnes & Noble when I was 9 and I was really proud of myself for that. Add your first CD you were way too proud of buying in the tags
