Y’know, Bowser is a good example of a villain who embodies both the “human” villain and the “evil for the sake of evil” villain. Fucking Bowser, going off his roles in the Mario RPGs.

And when somebody tries to muscle in on his territory, he sure as hell doesn’t appreciate it, and will try to stop them. Nobody can argue that Bowser is one bad dude.
But then, he’s also a big doofus, who recites silly haikus to himself and talks to fucking posters, and isn’t exactly willing to let the world go to pieces…mostly because he’d rather have the world intact for himself, but hey.
And if you don’t like Bowser then I don’t even know what to say to you because I love the big, dumb lug.

There are plenty of other ways to do this besides just being a dick and forcefully fucking with the subject. Not to mention that as a society, 99% of the time opening a door isn’t met with hostility, unless you’re in a war zone or some other situation in which humans are still being cruel.
