Honestly a man trying to go and essentially colonize — through Christian conversion — an island of less than 100 people (who have not interacted with other people in YEARS who do not speak English and just want to be left alone) ending up dead is the most karmic thing that could have happened and imo he got what he deserved. White people thinking only with their colonist brains will lead to white people ending up dead and the fewer white colonists in this world the better.
