loot boxes and in game transactions need to be removed from video games.
Hey! That’s a valid opinion and I appreciate it. I would like to recommend a couple videos on this topic though, that I think paint a bit of a better picture of the issue of lootboxes, developer income, game development costs, and overall end user treatment/ethics of lootboxes.
Extra Credits is run by a bunch of game enthusiasts, developers, and overall good speakers, and I think their PoV can be pretty interesting.
On ethics of lootboxes:
On legality of lootboxes:
[mostly i just love their videos and i like to find every excuse to plug them i can]
I should’ve have added context but personally if the game is targeted for under 18 audiences it shouldn’t have loot boxes. Personally because my younger sibling spent a crapton on loot boxes, the cost adds up and they’re meant to be addicting so the kid had no clue he actually spent that much. Adults can make their own choices on playing games with loot boxes but if game developers are marketing the game towards under 18 year-olds then it shouldn’t have loot boxes.
