hey, your knife posts have kinda made be a bit curious! i’ve been in a knife phase lately & been wanting some for Christmas. do you have any recommendations for some cool knives or blades in general?
It depends on what kind of knife you wanna get. ( big, small, hunting, pocketknife, etc. ) After I finish eating I’ll show you some of my favorite ones and maybe post a few tips ^_^
If you want a pocket knife I don’t have any brand recommendations really, but I prefer a spring assisted one since they open very easily and if you want to carry one daily for self defense that seems much better than one you have to open manually. I don’t think you should spend a ton of money on pocket knives, I’ve bought one for two dollars that my dad uses regularly and it works pretty well, all I had to do was sharpen it. ( if you’re getting into knives you’ll definitely want a knife sharpener! )
For a medium size knife I recommend this one!
It’s an Elk Ridge ER-052 and it’s not too much on Amazon for its quality! It’s full tang ( which means the metal of the blade goes all the way through the handle, making it much stronger, and unlike cheap knives that aren’t full tang the blade won’t break away from the handle ) stainless steel and the handle is made of real wood. It comes with a nice leather sheath that you can put on your belt! It was my first knife and still one of my favorites ^_^
For a large knife I recommending getting two knives – one lightweight and one somewhat heavy. I keep a heavy knife with me when I sleep and it makes me feel better knowing I have a good weapon to hit someone with, either on the blunt side or with the sharp one, if there was ever an intruder XD but that’s just my preference really. The heavy one was from a friend so I don’t know where it came from, but the light one was a gift from my grandparents and I totally recommend it!
Like it says on the sheath ( which comes with a smaller knife btw!!!! Isn’t that cool ) it’s a Carnivore X made by Camillus ( I think anyway, I never checked it out lol ) and it’s made from titanium!! It’s lightweight, has a saw edge on the back, and that thing near the tip that I forget what it’s called but it kinda looks like a hook and it’s sharp.
It’s probably my coolest knife XD
Anyway, I suggest getting at least three knives of varying sizes and types! Don’t just get a lot of the same kind, not only does it get boring but it’s very limiting. Assess your needs and wants and do some research on what makes a good knife, read the reviews, and have fun!
