Having seen it, I can now say that the people claiming this can shut right up. The movie does a perfectly fine job of showing ALL aspects of Mercury, including his bisexuality (he was in a sexual relationship with a woman for 6 years), and his AIDS. It even has him insisting that he doesn’t want to be some sort of AIDS poster boy and just wants to perform and give people the music they want. I know that anything short of him tongue kissing every guy he saw for 2 ½ hours wouldn’t be “representative” enough for you, but being LGBT isn’t a personality. They were giving an overview of the life of an individual human being with a lot beyond his sexuality that made him iconic.
