Birth control needs to be available for all those who need it because women who get raped should not have to carry their rapists baby, nor should they have to have the experience and trauma of aborting it. If you didnt consent to sex, you didnt consent to pregnancy.

Furthermore, most pro-lifers – including the Catholic Church, no less – supports the use of Plan B (before ovulation) to prevent pregnancy from rape. But a majority of people using Plan B and other emergency contraception are not using it to prevent conception from rape, just conception in general.

Also, on a final note, stop using extreme cases to justify birth control’s many problems. Birth control is an overinflated industry that has monopolized and stunted women’s healthcare, ruined the mental and physical health of COUNTLESS women, is steeped in a sexist and racist history, and has allowed the misuse of women’s bodies – such as to cover up rape and perpetrate the need for abortion if it fails.

Birth control is NOT some easy solution for ANY problem, and people need to stop acting like it is. It prevents much needed improvements in our society concerning women’s welfare and sexual dignity.
