Japan knife attack: At least 19 dead
Literally just a few months ago somebody killed 19 people with a knife. You may recall that’s more than 12. You could at least do the tiniest bit of research before making moronic statements like knives are objectively less capable of mass killing than guns.
Crazy is a hell of performance enhancer.
I mean… guns are objectively more lethal than knives? That is fact. If they wern’t the stock military weapon would be a bayonet rather than a rifle. Seriously, it’s creationism level denial to think that melee weapons are as effective as guns; see all of military history. That doesn’t mean you can’t kill a bunch of people with a knife, but guns make it a lot easier.
Which weapon is “more lethal“ depends entirely on a variety of factors. An empty gun is not more lethal than a sharpened knife for example. Obviously military guns are more desirable than melee weapons on the battlefield, but that’s not what we’re talking about. And this isn’t an argument that guns aren’t dangerous, but rather a rebuttal to the idea that knives are less capable of being used in mass murder. Guns aren’t just magic murderer machines that operate independently. If a firearm is being handled by somebody who doesn’t know how to aim they might shoot 50 rounds and only hit two people. Meanwhile somebody can hack and slash with a lot less precision an end up racking up more injuries with a knife. It depends entirely on the situation, but knives are not inherently less dangerous than guns and the whole idea that someone with a knife could “only ever get a few people before being tackled“, as the anon originally suggested, is a huge fallacy.
