Paul is not the example of a Christian life. John, the disciple whom Jesus loves, is not the example of a Christian life. Peter is not. John the Baptist is not. Timothy, however young and full of Spirit, is not the example of a Christian life.
Jesus is. Only He is the example. White as snow, never once sinned, in constant communication with the Father, laid down His life. Jesus is the example of a Christian life. He is who we look to. He is who we follow. He is who we mirror. Reflecting Jesus is the Christian life.
Take out the middle man. If Paul is your goal, you will never see righteousness in your life. If John is your goal, you will never be free from sin. If Peter is your goal, you will reach a point where you can go no further, and you will never look like God.
Mirror Jesus.
I appreciate where you are going with this but it’s also wrong on the face of it. We should definitely imitate Christians who are more mature than we are. 1st Corinthians 11:1 “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” This is Paul saying this. The Bible endorses Christian role models.
