Hey, remember how everyone conviently forgot about how American journalists covered up human rights abuses under Stalin, colluded to help Fidel Castro get into power by lying to the American public about him being an anti-Communist freedom fighter, and spread propaganda to influence the American public in favor of invading Iraq?
People are acting like journalists are dishonest now, but ho boy.
The “post-truth era” histrionics from media organizations in 2016/17 was really funny considering their track record since the beginning.
You didn’t even go back to the 19th Century when yellow journalism was rampant
In the early 1790′s, a few politicians basically had their own newspapers.
Gazette of the United States was the Federalist paper (lol) was Hamilton’s new town square where he could cry out about whatever he was upset about that day. (Even Adams published his last unfinished but awesome political theory thoughts in it.)
National Gazette was written by Philip Freneau because Thomas Jefferson and James Madison wanted a Democratic-Republican partisan paper that could directly counter Gazette of the US.
It’s always been this way.
