I know lots of Catholics who say “good lord” to things that are surprising or shocking and I say it too from being around them. Is that sinful? Like would it be considered taking the Lord’s name in vain?

I consider it taking the Lord’s name in vain. I’ve actually been not saying stuff like that for the past year or so, and I broke the habit. I feel like it shouldn’t be a big deal to replace stuff like “oh my God” with “oh my gosh”. I still cuss a lot though so I am probably being hypocritical lol. One step at a time.
