True story

This is why I buy aviation cans instead.

What’s this about?

Basically the US Government said that plastic gas cans were dangerous because they can be knocked over and spill. So they designed a method where you have to have them propped up in the dispense position and hold a safety latch (Various different methods, really) to let gas out of the can. At the same time they made them not only harder to use, causing you to spill gas, but also removed the venting system causing many gas cans to swell with vapor and actually cause issues.

Oh shit

Also because the spring they use is too strong its almost impossible to safely push the nozzle in and since the can is flexible and the nozzle is kind of slippery so the nozzle will slip out of the fueling port and then you get gasoline all over yourself and the equipment.

And what’s worse is that they did it to diesel cans too for no reason.
