I’m seeing a huge difference in some shit here.

City Schools: Metal detectors, paranoia, rampant bullying, abuse, and poverty, hateful people running wild

Country Schools: “ma’am I accidentally brought my huntin backpack” “any guns?” “Naw, some ammo and a buck knife.” “Alright, give it to the office, ya parent can pick it up. And uh, suspended for a day I guess. So, you get Friday off.” “Yeah alright. Plus you know my guns are in my truck out in the parking lot.” “True, so are mine. Do ya quiz.”

This is. Not wrong.

This is actually my high school. I remember one year, it was a huge deal bc the guys with the guns in their trucks were suspended the week of the playoffs, so a bunch of the football team wasn’t allowed to play.

And actually, the guys with the guns in their trucks are probably the guys I trust the most to not shoot someone. These are kids who’ve grown up around guns. They know how dangerous they are. They know how to handle one.

The thing that makes me pro gun restriction (and even illegalisation) is my experiences with handling them. I held a killing device in my hands. I could have turned around and shot my dad who was the one teaching me gun safety. I don’t want to have that power. No civilian should have that power. The best thing to do to understand guns is to shoot one (in a safe environment with someone who knows what they’re doing) yourself.

If you think “No civilian should have that power” is a good argument that doesn’t sound incredibly tyrannical or fascist then you might want to take a step back.

Just because you don’t trust yourself with a firearm everyone should be disarmed, @quill-and-inktopus ? The answer to your problem isn’t to revoke the rights to defend oneself to the 1/3 of Americans who currently own firearms or those who may seek to in the future.

If no one had guns, then there would be no need to defend yourself using a gun. Take a look at countries that have severe gun restrictions or outright bans. It’s not about the act of taking guns away from responsible people. It’s that doing that might be necessary to make everyone safer by preventing them from falling into the hands of people who might harm others.

Than what made people so violent before the creation of guns? And please give me the name of those countries.

One time, I held a steak knife in my hand. I could’ve turned around and stabbed my mom in the neck. Are you saying we should ban kni-

OH WAIT NEVER MIND THE U.K. ACTUALLY DID THAT!

People used to throw rocks at each other.

How the heck do you go from “Those guys are the ones I trust most to not shoot anyone because they grew up around guns and know how dangerous they are” to “no civilian should have that power”
