I saw your post about how your hubby’s parents did illegal home births and avoided getting their children social security numbers until homeschooling was made legal. I don’t mean to be nosy, but wasn’t that VERY risky in more ways than one? From the way I understand it, if you don’t have a social security number you don’t technically exist, and you’d have a helluva time trying to get a bank account or an ID or pretty much anything without it. Unless SSNs worked differently back then?
