today this like 8-ish year old girl wanted to buy something at the toy store i work at and she asked me how much it was and i said it was $3.99 but then i realized she was only counting out four dollars so i added “but with tax it’s $4.24″ and she was like “what’s tax” so i had to explain governmental taxation to a small child that wasn’t mine. and that’s how my day went today

yup tax is calculated at checkout so we can still retain our burning hatred of the government taking our money away.
lol that’s hilarious. so you can be adding up the price as you go along, get to the checkout and suddenly its like X% more?
yeah, I mean we wouldn’t have this issue is the government didn’t have sales tax.
I can support sales tax as long as they get rid of income, property, inheritance and investment taxes.
^^^ we get taxed constantly I wouldn’t mind it if the big ones got taken away
