Us: 50 years ago, USSR invaded us, opressed us, and took away our freedom for 21 years. The occupation happened to prevent democratic reforms that were in the making in our country.
Russia: What lol, no. You invited our army and we did that to prevent a war. 🙂 And you should have defended yourselves, anyway.
Just a reminder that not only Russia and its trash government have not apologized for invading Czechoslovakia to this very day, also more and more of their people generally approve of the actions of the USSR in the August of 1968 and call the soldiers heroes. When asked, they answered that the decision to invade and occupy a free country was absolutely right and justified.
For the next 21 years they continued to opress our nation under communist regime, they took away our freedom and resources. We had not had democratic election until 1990. The soldiers themselves stayed here until 1991. While we were able to rise from that awful dirt USSR put us into pretty succesfully, you can still feel the remnants of the communist era today, nearly 30 years after revolution.
