NRA Gives Middle Finger To Gun Activists
Hey NRA supporters: THE NRA DOESN’T CARE ABOUT YOU! Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.
“A federal judge has blocked the public availability of blueprints that provide instructions for making guns using 3-D printers, just hours before the documents were expected to be published online.
U.S. District Court Judge Robert Lasnik granted a temporary restraining order on Tuesday night barring a trove of downloadable information about creating the do-it-yourself weapons.
Eight attorneys general and the District of Columbia argued the instructions posed a national security threat. New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) on Tuesday also issued a cease-and-desist order against the man who was scheduled to post them online.
“In a major victory for common sense and public safety, a federal judge just granted our request for a nationwide temporary restraining order — blocking the Trump administration from allowing the distribution of materials to easily 3-D print guns,” New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood said in a statement. “As we argued in the suit we filed yesterday, it is — simply — crazy to give criminals the tools to build untraceable, undetectable 3-D printed guns at the touch of a button. Yet that’s exactly what the Trump administration decided to allow.”
We (gun owners) already knew the NRA isn’t the best organization to support.
That’s one major reason that the NRA is bleeding money and membership in favor of organizations like the GOA and 2nd Amendment Foundation.
Their willingness to roll over on issues they see as “small” for the vague possibility of political capital is the reason I cannot support the NRA. ntil they change their mission statement and actions to be “no compromise, no surrender” I won’t give them a red cent.
WTF!? This is about a judge circumventing the 1st and has very little to do with the 2nd or the NRA’s opinion on the issue.
Is the NRA the “best” civil rights organization? No. Are they the big gorilla, yes. I would appreciate a source for the NRA “bleeding … membership”. We need to support the NRA (including the state groups!) AND SOF, GOA, JPFO, etc.. If you believe TYT’s reporting of this issue, then you need to take a closer look at TYT.
As noted in another reply, I was more commenting on the OP’s assertion, rather than on the article itself. Sorry if that caused any confusion; I generally dislike the NRA since they still rolled over on bump stocks in an attempt to look more palatable to certain parts of their base, in doing so I cannot, with good conscience, support them until they officially show that they genuinely align with my ethos of “no feature, configuration, or set of features are a suitable justification for banning.”
