I unironically hate how modern homes are built in the US compared to how they used to be made, specifically in the area of design. American 3 bedrooms could easily be 4 or 5 bedroom homes, yet for current architecture demands they are built with unnecessarily large living rooms and garages. This makes it impossible for a family of any real size to actually afford a home near any of the major American cities.
