Diana: The other great character in this movie is Kari the babysitter, who I
remembered having a much bigger part but I guess I was thinking of the short
released later where it shows her actually babysitting Jack-Jack.
Andrew: Kari is the best character in this film. I love that as she gets panicked
she is still prefacing these voicemails with “Jack Jack is fine but …” and
there’s so much heart to this comedic character that she always feels the first
and most important thing, even when Jack Jack is literally on fire, is to
ensure that Mrs. Parr knows that Jack Jack is fine AND I’m freaking out.
Diana: And in the short film you find out she is the true superhero of this
movie.
Andrew: She’s a badass.
Diana: Oh yeah, Jack Jack is developing like 15 powers and she’s learning
how to cope with each one individually so eventually she’s just sitting there
with a mirror to deflect lasers and a fire extinguisher to put him out when he
lights on fire and she’s so tired but she’s ready for anything.
Andrew: Basically in one day she figures out how to raise a baby with
superpowers as a mortal girl and it looks like the whole second movie is “can
an invincible man do the same thing?” and I’m like, probably. I hope so.
Diana: Probably not as good as Kari though, let’s be real. I mean when you
think about the fact that Syndrome dies because he can’t handle Jack Jack for
five minutes really shows that Kari did an amazing job.
Andrew: She should be dead.
