why do you call nazis leftists if they literally are not lefties, i absolutely despise national socialism but it falls into the traditional right far more than the capitalist right, if you go by original definitions
Because they literally are leftists. Just listen to their rhetoric. They are national socialists. That’s because they began as Marxist socialists. They were always big centralized government statists who do not believe in the free market, individualism, liberty, or inalienable rights. They just espoused a more nationalist and traditionalist cultural milieu.
Just because someone is traditionalist does not change their fundamental political ideology. Many communists were secretly traditionalists and the Soviet Union moved more towards traditional cultural norms and nationalism into the Cold War. Just look at the more ideological modern leftist Russian philosophers like Aleksandr Dugin who are nationalist Bolshevik fascists who oppose western civilization. It wasn’t a very big ideological leap to get to a flag that looks like this:
And arguably the Nazis were not as fully traditionalist as today’s trad-boys would like to admit. Sure, there was a lot of display of romanticism in their propaganda and art, but there was also a lot of
utilitarian
futurist aspects incorporated in their infrastructure, architecture, industrialization, and militarism projects, despite being very critical of modern “degenerate art.” In fact, Italian fascist futurism was all the rage before the Nazis started attacking modernism in the arts. Hitler was a selective critic, and honestly wanted to pick and choose from the old and the new to construct his ideological vision of Germanic cultural expression. He also clearly opposed traditional religious institutions and values.
